Trees Committee meeting Saturday July 30 1:30-3:30

Roundtable

Why can’t we get the City to do better for our trees?

Bring your questions/comments! These may be some of them —

Why is our tree canopy declining?

Why is there no enforcement of tree code violations?

Why should we report violations anyway?

What violations are difficult to report on MyLA311? What problems have you encountered?

Why isn’t there more maintenance for street trees?

Why are lots cleared of all trees when a structure is demolished?

Why are private property trees unprotected?

Why are trees not adequately protected during construction?

Why isn’t the approach to trees and woodlands more ecological?

Why is Urban Forestry’s annual budget only $25 million?

Why is there no biologist at Urban Forestry?

What is the City Forest Officer doing and not doing?

What has improved through the efforts of tree advocates?

What more can an individual or a neighborhood council do?

How to fix problems requires some understanding of the limitations in how the City is structured when it comes to our trees.

Urban Forestry has been open to talk about some of their challenges at CFAC, which will be shared at this meeting.

Open to anyone — Zoom link will be sent during the week before the meeting.
