Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky Motion
Back in May, you may remember that the City Council heard my motion to try and put a stop to the Bulgari Hotel. The Council voted 7-7 on the motion, which means it wasn’t successful that day – we were just one vote short. But because the vote was a tie, the motion was “continued” for reconsideration by the full council for this Wednesday, August 16th.
For those unfamiliar, my motion asks the Director of City Planning to reverse initiation of a General Plan Amendment for the Bulgari Hotel in Benedict Canyon. As proposed, it would build a huge luxury playground for the ultra-wealthy on open space high up in an environmentally sensitive area. On its merits, the hotel should never have advanced this far to begin with – it’s why environmental groups like Tree People, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, The Sierra Club, the Center for Biological Diversity, and Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife universally oppose it.
If you would like to come to City Hall to voice your support for my motion at 10am on Wednesday, you can do so by giving public comment.
