Thank you to those who were able to attend the Community Planning Workshop for the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Center Campus (MLK Hospital Campus) on Thursday, January 7, 2010.

The purpose of that workshop was to collect comments and ideas for the development of the MLK Hospital Campus Master Plan.

Those who were unable to attend may still submit your comments via email to mlkmasterplan@gmail.com by Thursday, January 14, 2010.

The Master Plan is a document that will provide the County of Los Angeles with guidance on how to develop the MLK Hospital Campus. This document will specify the types of land uses to be included on the site and will identify the general location and amount of new development.

Five topics were selected to guide the discussion:

Health and Wellness – including health promotion, disease prevention, chronic care, community wellness

Transportation – including bus routes, shuttles, other access to the campus

Land Uses – including business/commercial, retail/shopping; open space/recreation; child care, housing

Campus Master Plan – development of the campus, impact on the community

General Input – additional comments, feedback

The next community meeting for the new MLK Hospital Campus is tentatively scheduled for March 24, 2010. This project scoping meeting will provide another opportunity for you to share your feedback and to help shape the future of the new MLK Hospital Campus.

Please join us for a community planning workshop to provide feedback on the new MLK hospital and surrounding campus. Your ideas and input are very important and will guide how the MLK Medical Center Campus is developed. Based on comments from the previous meeting, we have selected 5 topics for you to think about:

There will be no formal presentation during the workshop. You are welcome to stop by and provide your comments any time between 5:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Two brief orientations will be held at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to guide you through the workshop process.
