Comprehensive Fee Update
Dear Local Stakeholders, On October 19, the City Council voted to approve a comprehensive update to City Planning’s application fees. The new fees more accurately reflect current application trends and the associated staffing costs necessary to maintain vital city services. Throughout the fee update process, City Planning’s goal has been to take a balanced approach that meets the needs of the City’s residents while more accurately reflecting current development trends. While the cost of many applications will increase, the City will continue to subsidize community-serving requests, such as non-applicant appeal fees and historic related applications, as well as local neighborhood uses like family day care centers and farmers markets. To allow sufficient time for implementation, the new fees will not take effect until December 27, 2021, at which time new planning applications and sign-off requests will be subjected to the revised fee schedule. We encourage those who wish to file a planning application under the current fees to do so well in advance of December 27, so as to avoid any unforeseen delays. |
How to Apply City Planning continues to utilize a drop off system at our Development Services Centers (DSCs), which has dramatically reduced any delays created by waiting for a scheduled appointment and allows multiple applications to be filed on the same day. In addition, many City Planning requests may now be applied for online and all applicants will continue to be able to pay their application fees online (by credit card or e-check), eliminating the need to physically bring in a payment to the City. |
