To All Neighborhood Council Land Use Committees:

Sending you some time sensitive information that was presented at last Saturday’s, December 9, 2017 PlanCheckNC meeting.   This is an opportunity for you to place these items on your upcoming meeting agendas and participate with comments and positions by your Neighborhood Councils to the respective City Council staff, commissions, committees and the full City Council.

Thank you to Tom Rothmann, Rubina Ghazarian, David Somers and Lisette Covarrubias from the Department of City Planning.  We also saw Jose Galdamez from EmpowerLA.

The Transportation Demand Management Ordinance presentation included a power point handout with Rubina Ghazarian, City Planner – Adopted in 1993 the new update will include context-based, project-specific strategies to increase equitable and multimodal access to goods and services. Over time, additional strategies can be included as transportation technologies and innovations emerge. The ordinance update will help implement Mayor Garcetti’s sustainability goals to fight climate change and create a more resilient City. Small Lot Code Amendment and Policy Update

Due to the comments received during the public hearing and outreach process, the Department has taken additional time to further refine the language of both the Small Lot Code Amendment and Design Standards. Additional documents have been added such as a Summary Sheet, Revised Frequently Asked Questions, and an Overview of the Draft Map Standards. The latest draft of the Code Amendment and Design Standards includes refinements that are in response to the comments received.

CPC Meeting Postponed for Proposed Amendment to the Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance

Update from Senior City Planner Jane Choi:
Thank you for your input during our public participation process for the Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance (SLS) Amendment. Due to the overwhelming number of comments and multiple requests to extend the comment submission deadline, the Department of City Planning will be postponing the presentation of the SLS Amendment to the City Planning Commission, which was tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 24, 2016. A new City Planning Commission meeting date for this item will be announced in the near future.

Proposed Amendment to the Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance

December 20th, 2015

This notice is to inform you of a public hearing for case number CPC-2015-4499-CA, a proposed amendment to the Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance that has been initiated by the Director of Planning. The proposed ordinance seeks to amend Section 12.22-C,27 of the Los Angeles Municipal Code to require greater front and rear yard setbacks, create a division of land process for “adaptive reuse” small lot projects, and add an incidental administrative clearance process and establish design standards for small lot subdivision projects.
