HCID Needs Assessment Survey

September 23rd, 2017

As part of their community outreach and needs assessment, the LA Housing and Community Investment Department is conducting an online survey through SurveyMonkey.  This survey will help to measure the needs of various communities in Los Angeles and allow the City to determine what projects would have the greatest positive impact in upcoming years.  In order to obtain the most accurate results, they need to get the survey out to as many people as possible. Please take a moment to complete the survey and share it with your friends and neighbors. See the attached flyer for more information.

Housing Element at City Council 12/3

December 2nd, 2013

Housing Element Interested Parties and Task Force members,

The update to the Housing Element has been scheduled for full City Council tomorrow at 10am. We don’t know whether the item will be called “special” and have a discussion/hearing or not.

Sorry for the late notice, but the agenda was just posted.

The post City Planning Commission version of the document is available on the City Planning website

Some additional minor changes were made to this version at the City Council (Planning/Housing) Committee level, which can be tracked on the Council File site here (the 11/5 amendments and technical corrections)

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’ll likely be sending just one more email after this to the group – when we have a final version of the document for your records. Thanks again for your interested and involvement.

DRAFT – City’s Housing Element Released

June 16th, 2013

Certified Neighborhood Council members,

The 2013-2021 update to the City’s Housing Element has been released for public review and comment. The Housing Element is a State-required part of the City’s General Plan, which must be completed on a 8-year schedule to be in compliance. Hopefully some of you are aware of the project due to the efforts we made in attending the regional neighborhood council groups over the past couple months.

A Housing Element is meant to provide policy guidance for local decision making regarding housing programs and decisions. It is a comprehensive statement of City need, constraints and strategies to provide housing opportunities to existing and future residents.

The draft of the plan, as well as additional background information, can be found on the website below. Alternatively, the page can be accessed by looking under the “What’s New” portion of the Planning Department’s website:

We also want to welcome all members of the public to attend the Open House/Public Hearing scheduled for Saturday July 27, 2012 (10AM) at the Deaton Auditorium of the LAPD headquarters downtown. The public notice is attached. Please feel free to forward this to your contacts or other interested parties.

If you have any questions or comments on the draft and can not make it to the Open House/Public Hearing, we welcome you submit them directly to myself by email or regular mail (address below). Last day for public comments is August 8, 2013.

Thank you very much and we look forward to your input on this important long-range citywide policy/planning document.
