Hillside Ordinance on March 26 City Planning Agenda

REMINDER

The Hillside Area Definition and Proposed Hillside Area Map (CPC-2008-4683-CA) will be on the March 26, 2009 City Planning Commission Meeting – TOMORROW (item number 8). If you want to be sure to catch this item, you should show up at the beginning of the meeting as the Commission retains the right to take items out of order. The meeting will start at 8:30 AM (CORRECTED TIME), and will be held at:

Van Nuys City Hall
City Council Chamber, 2nd Floor
14410 Sylvan St.
Van Nuys, CA 91401

(Google Maps Link ( http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en-GB&geocode=&q=14410+Sylvan+St.,+Van+Nuys,+CA+91401&sll=34.054005,-118.243446&sspn=0.006818,0.009613&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=17&iwloc=addr ))

In order to clarify some misunderstandings, this proposal is intended to remove the Hillside Area designation from properties which are not located on a hillside, and to better identify where the City’s true hillsides are located. It is important to note that the proposal will not change the current hillside regulations, but only changes where they are applied based on topography. If your property is not having the Hillside Area designation removed, this action should not affect you; please verify this using the Current and Proposed Hillside Area Boundary Map (Zoomable Parcel-Specific Version) ( http://cityplanning.lacity.org/Code_Studies/HillsideAreaDefinitionAmendment/CurrentProposedHillsideAreaBoundaries.pdf ).

If you have any questions regarding this item, I will be at the meeting all morning and will try to answer as many of them as I can.

If you can’t make it to the meeting, you can also listen to the City Planning Commission meeting over a touch-tone phone by calling CouncilPhone at (213) 621-CITY, (310) 547-CITY, (310) 471-CITY, or at (818) 904-9450. The map contains parcel lines for the entire city in order to allow the general public to zoom into their neighborhoods and determine whether their property will remain within the proposed Hillside Area boundaries, or if the designation is proposed for removal.
